C.  Eugene McDonell, 79, went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 4, 2008 at VIA Christi / St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kans.

Mr. McDonell was born August 31, 1928 in Ordway, the son of Clyde Wilbur and Edith Frances Collins McDonell.

He moved to Leoti, Kans., in 1953. He was the retired owner/operator of McDonell Landleveling Company, building several roads and bridges in western Kansas as well as doing custom land leveling.

Mr. McDonell was a former member of the First Baptist Churches in Leoti and in Fowler.

On June 25, 1950 he married Esther Lee Coltrin at Fowler. She survives him as do his two daughters, Michelle (Mark) Jones and Melissa (Greg) Fletcher, all of Leoti.

Also surviving is sister, Emmeline Green, Friona, Tex.; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Matt and Kaitlin Jones; Tiffany, Breck, Meil and Gabe Fletcher.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 7, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti with the Reverend Rick Just officiating. Burial followed in the Leoti Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Mr. McDonell’s memory to the United Methodist Church or the Wichita County Amusement Association in care of the funeral home.
