Hattie W. Poterfield passed away Feb. 22, 2010 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kan. Mrs. Poterfield was born Oct. 20, 1907 in Pendleton, Ore. to Bill Osee B. and Anna Elizabeth (Whitebread) Mason. She married Bill Porterfield, Sr. in 1926 at Santa Monica, Calif.
Mrs. Poterfield moved with her family to Santa Monica, Calif in 1923 and in 1931 her and her husband moved to Fowler. She was the site manager for the Senior Center in Fowler for 11 years and retired in 1990 at the age of 83. She then moved to Garden City, Kan. Mrs. Poterfield enjoyed crocheting, candy making, cooking, canning, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1981, four sisters and one brother.
Survived by her son Bill (Jackie) Porterfield of Garden City, Kan; grandson Bob (Marylin) Porterfield of Garden City, Kan; great-grandchildren Dustin (Shana) Porterfield Tabor of Garden City, Kan., Shelly Portfield of Colorado Springs, Clay Porterfield of Liberty, Mo.; great great grandchildren Taryn Tabor and Taylee Tabor of Garden City, Kan.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Durham officiating. Burial was at Valley View cemetery in Garden City, Kan. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
