Judy Shiplet passed away early Thursday evening at her home in Mesquite, Nevada. After three years, she lost her battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, an incurable lung disease, on the 5th of November, 2009 at the age of 68.

Judy was born on April 27, 1941 in Pueblo, Colo., to Claude & Helen LaFoe. After marrying her husband Phil in November of 1964, they settled in Fowler Colo., where they raised there 3 children, Deenna, Marla and David. Together they also owned and operated Fowler Super Market for 15 years until selling it in 1991. In 1998, tired of the cold weather, Phil and Judy moved to Mesquite, Neveda. It was there, she lived out her last days and being at peace with her illness, Judy loved and cherished every minute of her life until the end. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a true friend.

Judy leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Phil Shiplet, Mesquite; two daughters, Dee Dee Shiplet, Swink; Marla Shiplet-Kissick, Pueblo; her son, David Shiplet, Mesquite; two brothers, Jim LaFoe, Denver; Bob LaFoe, Pueblo; and three grandchildren, Ray, Sari and Dara.

There will be a memorial service held at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Fowler, Colo., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Fowler State Bank in the Shiplet family name.

You are invited to leave a message or memory in the "Memorial Guestbook" at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
