Ella Keeling went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2009, while residing at Arrowhead Assisted Living in Glendale, AZ.
Ella was born on September 8, 1911 in Sparta, MO to Sidney and Ollie Dougan. After marrying Arthur Keeling in May, 1931, they settled in Maxwell, New Mexico, where Arthur owned and operated Keeling Gas & Oil. In 1935, they moved to Fowler, CO, going into business as Keeling Hardware and Furniture and Keeling Oil Company. Arthur had the privilege of serving as Fowler’s Mayor for some 13 years. In Fowler, Ella and Arthur raised three children Ann, Gerri and Kay. Ella and Arthur attended First Baptist Church for many years and later became charter members of Faith Baptist Church. Ella loved the Lord and even as she turned 98 years old, she was able to quote lengthy chapters of Bible verses. Ella truly believed that we are all on a journey through life with our destination being heaven.
In 1962, they sold the hardware business and moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Subsequently, they lived in Ft. Collins, CO; Albuquerque, NM; and Sun City, AZ.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1994. They were blessed to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Ella leaves behind her three daughters, Ann (Dick) Brandt – Ft. Collins, CO/Mesa, AZ, Gerri (Bob) Sweeney – Denver, CO, Kay Robinson – Denver, CO, eight grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Ella was the oldest of five children and is survived by one brother, Walter Dougan, Ozark, MO.
Services were held in Sun City, AZ with internment at Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, AZ. The family prefers memorials be sent in Ella’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656 or Grace Bible Church, 19280 N. 99th Avenue, Sun City, AZ 85373-1401.
