Violet Christine Reed

Violet Christine Reed, 91, longtime Florence resident, died Feb. 3, 2010 at Canon City following a long illness. She was born Sept. 9, 1919 in Richard Parish, La, the daughter of Edgar A. and Ruby Kay Tillman. She married Alva Floyd Reed in La Junta on May 10, 1952. He was a retired Captain and very involved with various Masonic orders. She was active in Order of Eastern Stat and Daughters of the NIle. She is survived by a son, Edward (Marion) Reed of Colorado Springs; Daughter, Judy (Charles) Reynolds of Las Vegas, Nev. and a step-son, Jay Reed of Louisiana. There are eighteen grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Graveside services were held at the Fowler Cemetery on Wed., Feb. 10 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Gary Goettel, pastor of Fowler United Methodist Church, presiding. Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler was in charge of arrangements.
