Phyllis June Shelton, 71, of Fowler, died in Colorado Springs at Penrose Main Hospital Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. She had lived in Fowler for many years and for the past two years had made her home in Colorado Springs to be close to her children. She was born on Nov. 23, 1938 in Manzanola, the daughter of the late Harold and Ione Bouldin VanSickle. She was married to Donald E. Shelton on Sept. 29, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband on Oct. 16, 2002. She is survived by children, son Bryan (Jane) Shelton of Broomfield; daughters Debbie (Larry) Kelly, Donna (Brian) Estep, and Renee Shelton all of Colorado Springs and Kim (Steve) Jankowski of Monument; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters Jerry VanSickle, Sharon (Richard) VanGaasbeek, Shirley (Alan) Smith, Betty Winsborough, Bill (Kari) VanSickle, and Bob (Judy) VanSickle. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral services were held at Fowler United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 11 a. m. with Reverend Gary Goettel officiating. Jonathan Fox sang Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. Casket bearers were Jeff Smith, Brandon Shelton, Dennis Eastep, Mark VanSickle, Mike VanSickle, and Aaron VanSickle. Burial was at Fowler Cemetery. Griffy Family Funeral Home as in charge of arrangements.
