Andrew M. (Andy) Varner of Las Animas previously of Stratford, Texas passed away unexpectedly in La Junta on Jan. 11, 2010.
Andy was born Aug. 22, 1939 in Pueblo to Carl L. And Elise M. (Baker) Varner.
Andy was employed at Fowler CO-OP for many years, Edison School and later at Stratford Feedyard and the City of Stratford before retiring. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Survived by former wife Dorothy Varner of Stratford, Texas; sons Keith E. Varner of Walsenburg, Andrew "Wayne" (Kim) Varner of Las Animas and Jason Varner of California; daughter Kathy (John) Horton of Texas and former wife Phyliss M. Taylor of Walsenburg.
He is also survived by siblings Charlene (Bob) Manweiler of La Junta; Gene (Esther) Varner of Manzanola; Edna (Dewey) Stockton of Shell Knob, Missouri; Carl Varner of Garden City, Kansas; Jim (Judy) Varner; Phil (Linda) Varner of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and Nancy (Mike) Sechrist of Monte Vista, Colorado.
He is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Glenn Varner and parents, Carl and Elsie Varner.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15 at the Fowler Cemetery. Minister Clayton King from the La Junta Church of Christ officiated.
Griffy Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
