Mrs. Gladys May Schubert, 91, of Calhan, formerly of Crowley County, died Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 at her residence.

 

Gladys was born in Plainview, TX on May 9, 1918, the daughter of the late Roy Alden and Lillie Augusta (Krause) Atkins. At age 3 she moved to Colorado with her parents to Crowley County. She lived her entire life in that county except the last 2 years then she lived with her daughter, Nancy who cared for her until the time of her death.

 

She was the widow of Walter William Schubert. They were married in 1941 in Fowler. Five children were born to them.

 

She was a Homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Fowler, CO 81039. She enjoyed gardening, quilt making, baking pies and caring for her chickens.

 

She is survived by;

Daughter Martha Ann wife of  Lee Thompson of Wray, CO;

Daughter Nancy wife of  Bill Hatton of Calhan, CO;

Daughter Nadine wife of  Steve Robison of Calhan, CO;

Brother Morris husband of  Kathryn Atkins of Palmer, AK;

Brother Wilbur Atkins of Cortez, CO;

Sister Mabel wife of  John Gramer of Colorado Springs, CO;

Sister R. "Peggy" wife of  E.J. Williams of Rocky Ford, CO.

She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren

 

She was preceded in death by; Husband: Walter Schubert; 2 sons: Edward & Wesley "Butch" Schubert; 2 sisters: Grace Bradley & Pauline Suhor; 3 brothers: Bob, Jody & HD Atkins

 

Graveside Services will be at Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, CO, at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 5th. Interment will be in the Fowler Cemetery Fowler, CO.
