Nellie “Ruth” Copp, 77, born June 22, 1930    to Virnie and Andrew Isley in Pueblo, Colo. departed this life, after a lengthy illness, to be with the Lord on June 10, 2008.

Ruth Isley and William “Sid” Copp were married May 17, 1948 in Raton, N.M. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Beloved wife of William Copp of the family home, she is survived by Arlinda (Denton) Vulgamore of Alamo, Texas, Carlen (David) Tooley and Cheryl (Larry) Smith of Las Animas, Colo. and Bill (Brenda) Copp of Belton, Mo. Also surviving Ruth are grandchildren Dustin (Ashleye) Vulgamore, Travis (Emily) Vulgamore, Havilah (T.J.) Spurlock, Josiah, Micaial and Ephraim Tooley, Jeremy Kingrey, Steven, Brianna, Kennan and Mariah Smith, Meagen (Brooks) Peek, Kristopher, Steffanie and Mikeal Copp. Ruth has six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virnie Trisler, Andrew Isley, and stepfather, Jack Trisler, brother, Alfred Isley, sister, Iva Hendren, step-brothers Jimmy and Robert Trisler and grandson Joshua Vulgamore.

Ruth’s favorite pastime was spending time with family and close friends. She continually looked for bargains and opportunities to bring pleasure and happiness to her family. Long talks with Helen Hardee, her best friend, was a daily pleasure.

Ruth worked for and retired from the Fowler School District in the food service department. This afforded her the opportunity to maintain a career while meeting the needs and demands of a busy family. She offered volunteer services for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Club and Senior Citizens of Fowler.

Loved by husband, children and grandchildren Ruth will be missed. Graveside services were held at the Fowler Cemetery on June 11, 2008.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Copp family home two miles north of Fowler on June 19, 2008, 2 to 4 p.m. Friends and relatives of the family are invited for a time of memories and celebration of Ruth’s life.

Arrangements were by Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler.
