What’s Good in Fowler?

Fowler Christian Church
John 1:46 Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?”
Like any small town in the country, Fowler has its problems. We could use more business. With more revenues, we could improve our streets, sidewalks, etc. But Fowler, for all its shortfalls, is still one of the best places to live.
Let me give a few shining examples. Do not forget the Denver Post study a couple of years ago which studied people’s giving by zip code. Little Fowler, Colorado, took honors for having the most generous people in Colorado!
When a prairie fire wiped out much in the nearby town of Ordway, the people of Fowler organized quickly, getting food, water, clothing and other materials to our neighbor city.
And thirdly, we have the Fowler Ministerial Alliance. A group of six Christian churches in town, the Alliance takes up one collection a year, and doles out that collection, 100%, to needy people. Transients passing through can get a warm meal or two, gasoline for their vehicles, and a bed for the night as they continue on their life’s journey. The elderly have been helped with their prescriptions, and local citizens have been helped with utility bills, rent, etc. It may often not be much, but everything helps. And all from one collection! And the churches contribute to a common food bank, which helps feed needy individuals and families.
We in the Ministerial Alliance do not all agree on every doctrinal issue, but we all adhere to the foundational teachings of Christianity (the deity of Christ, His atoning death for our sins, His resurrection, the authority of the Scriptures, etc.). We all also strongly believe in the statement of our Lord, “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35)”
So keep it up, Fowler. You have reasons to hold your heads up.
(Mat 25:37ff. “Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in… The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’”
Mat 10:42 “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
