On July 19, county clerks all over this state will be mailing out ballots for the Primary Election. Otero County will have a Republican Primary, and some very important races are at stake. This is one of the most important elections of our lives, if not THE most important. If you have been paying attention over the last 18 months, you know the terrible condition our country is in with unemployment, credit crisis, etc. I won’t even go into the sham of a foreign policy that is in place.
 The legacy we will be leaving to our children and grandchildren will be shameful if we don’t stop the train wreck.
These are the candidates you will be looking at and deciding on in this primary election.
Dan Maes and Scott McInnis are candidates for Governor;
Ken Buck and Jane Norton are candidates for United States Senator;
Bob McConnell and Scott Tipton are candidates for Congressional District 3;
 J.J. Ament and Walker Stapleton are candidates for Colorado State Treasurer;
Kevin Grantham and Mark Heimerich are candidates for Colorado Senate District 2;
Jim Baldwin and Ralph Rogers are candidates for Otero County Commissioner District 3.
Jane Norton and Walker Stapleton are candidates who petitioned on the ballot and did not take part in the caucus/assembly process.
We must be informed voters and we must be engaged voters. We can no longer allow a 30-second commercial three days before the election help us decide who we will vote for.  There is just too much riding on this election.  The vision of what will happen if the madness continues is far too ominous. Think about the legacy you are leaving to your family and the power your one vote will have in making sure this country remains the greatest country on earth.
