Looking for something to do this weekend? Valley Community Theater in Fowler is the place to be Friday night, April 9.
Beginning at 6 p.m., the second annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Food Drive is set to kick off with a solo set by local musician Tim Byrnes.
“Last year was such a success with the collection of six big boxes of food, we thought we’d do it again,” said Byrnes. Admission to the event is a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to the local food bank.
Friday night’s lineup will vary somewhat from last year’s and will include more local talent. Among those set to perform are Rick Feltner, Debbie and Brittany Feltner (performing original material), and Flashback; Kenny Morgan, Rob Poulignot, Dan Guerra and Tim Byrnes. Debuting with the band on vocals will be Steve Feltner. Ark Valley All-Stars, “everyone jamming together,” will close the show.
Byrnes said 2009 was busy for the band (Flashback).
“The guys have been getting together and playing more,” he commented. They have also put several videos out on YouTube. To see what they have been up to search timbyrnesable or kenny morgans video adventure. From there additional links to Rob Poulignot’s music are available. They are definitely worth checking out.
Meanwhile, Byrnes has been on a creative streak producing a long list of new material as well as performing solo in various venues. His opening set Friday evening will be recorded and released on CD in Loveland at the Mandolin Cafe where he will appear April 24.
Byrnes said there is always room for more bands and encouraged anyone interested to call him at (719) 696-1170.
“This is a great opportunity for the public to see some of the amazing talent that exists right here in the Arkansas Valley,” he said. “Come on out and enjoy the evening!”
