In the story of the Christ Child, some time after Jesus’ birth, three strangers show up bearing gifts. They are called kings, or magi, or wise men. They came from out of the east, probably from Persia. If that is where they came from they were likely scholars and advisors to the Persian king. Indeed, they were wise men. They had been studying the stars and according to their calculations they saw a star that meant that a great new king was born. They followed the star to Bethlehem where they found the baby Jesus. The Bible says they bowed down and worshiped Him and presented the Christ Child with kingly gifts. If people are open to Him, God can use mysterious and even strange ways to draw people to Him. The wise men weren’t only wise because they read the meaning of the strange new star. They were wise because they sought the Christ Child out and didn’t let anything stop them. We too should seek the Christ Child and find out what he can mean to our lives. The saying is true, “Wise men still seek Him.” Wise men still seek Him.
