The Fowler Grizzly girls track did themselves proud by putting the state jitters behind them and claiming a 9th place team standing and winning some hardware besides. Leading the pack was senior track star Lindsey Grasmick with a three-medal performance day. She took a second in the 100m hurdles in 14.9 pushing her nemesis from McClave to a third place finish. She flew to a state championship in the 300m hurdles in 45.72. Lindsey also anchored the 800m medley to a second place finish in 1:51.8 making a sweet experience for senior Mikalann Kinslow and freshmen April Gonzales and Karlee Wager. Gonzales also ran the 400m run and placed seventh for important team points.
The other runners put out an all-out effort in the wind and heat and gained valuable state experience which will bode the young Grizzly squad well next season.
Running well in the distance races were Brooke Grissom in the grueling 3200m run and Chelsey Wager in the 1600m run. The 4 x 100 was disqualified. The 1600m relay ran well but didn’t make it to the finals.
The exciting season ended on a good note and Coaches Hershey, Flores and Miles look forward to future Grizzly track. They lose seniors Mikalann Kinslow and Lindsey Grasmick. Grasmick will be running for the prestigious Adams State College Grizzly track program next season.
