Sixteen-year-old Tamara Tunink, a Fowler High School Junior, is the Little Britches Rodeo Breakaway World Champion in the Senior Girls Division.
Tamara has been riding horses ever since she can remember.
Competing with 80 girls from all over the United States, Tunink had the fastest times of 2.6 and 2.9 on two calves. Being 1st going into the short round.
Tunink said she loves the competition of the sport and the friendships she has developed along the way.
She credits her dad Tim and family friends Mike and Lori Diodisio for helping her spending countless hour’s everyday training.
Of her win Tamara said, “It was so exciting. My family and friends that were there, they were the loudest in the whole crowd.”
Winning a new saddle, five buckles, gift cards for items such as jeans, ropes and grain and a $500 scholarship, her next goal is the National High School Finals, which will be held July 2011 in Gillette, Wyo.
