Jan. 20, 1964: The world’s largest cheese was crafted by the Wisconsin Cheese Foundation for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. A cheddar, it weighed 34,000 pounds and required 170,000 quarts of milk from 16,000 cows. (That’s a brick 14 1/2 by 6 1/2 feet.)

Still, it didn’t last long, eaten heartily at the 1965 annual meeting of  the Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association.
