Looking for something new to watch on Netflix? Here is a list of all the best new shows and movies released on Netflix the week of April 12-18.

This week is lighter on international fare than usual, with just three imported shows and movies, one of which is dubbed and one of which doesn't have dialogue. So U-S-A! U-S-A! Though I suppose Huge in France, starring French comedian Gad Elmaleh, is kind of an international show, since probably more people are going to watch it in France than in America. The American stuff includes No Good Nick, which stars classic American icons Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin, and The Perfect Date, which stars American icon-in-training Noah Centineo. It's a pretty low-qual week, TBH, but it be like that sometimes.

The Biggest Releases

The Perfect Date
Netflix's latest algorithmically generated movie stars lab-grown heartthrob Noah Centineo as a high school senior who creates an app where girls can hire him to be their date. He'll play whatever role they want him to play. It's the boyfriend experience, but nonsexual. He falls for rich girl Camila Mendes from Riverdale, but what about Laura Marano from Austin & Ally, who was right in front of him the whole time? And will his entrepreneurial acumen be enough to get him into Yale? Watch the trailer to find out! You don't watch this kind of movie to be surprised by the plot, you know?

Huge in France, Season 1
Gad Elmaleh is a huge comedy star in France. In America, he is not. This funny eight-episode series isn't going to make him a big star, but it will certainly make comedy fans take note. In the series, "The Jerry Seinfeld of France" moves to Los Angeles to reconnect with his comedy-hating teenage son, inspired by the real Elmaleh's own move from the City of Lights to the City of Angels. The comedy and the drama come from an egomaniac being confronted with his own insignificance. The show is, how you say, good. If you like Curb Your Enthusiasm, you might like it. (Trailer)

Everything Else

Special, Season 1
This comedy series is a breezy binge of eight 15-minute episodes. It's created by, executive-produced by, written by, and stars Ryan O'Connell, and tells his semi-autobiographical story of being a gay man with cerebral palsy trying to figure out his 20s. It's far from perfect, but it has its charms, and the 15-minute format feels like a smart thing for Netflix to invest in. Watch this to see if it's a show length you can get used to.

A Land Imagined
A cop investigates the disappearance of a Chinese migrant worker who got too deep into a mysterious video game in this noirish thriller from Singapore. It'll show you a side of the city-state Crazy Rich Asians did not. (Trailer)

Mighty Little Bheem, Season 1
The mischievous adventures of a super-strong toddler. This animated series for little kids comes from India, but it doesn't seem to have any dialogue, which makes it translate worldwide even more easily. (Trailer)

Who Would You Take to a Deserted Island?
Four friends who have lived together in the same apartment in Madrid for eight years are moving out. But before they do, they go out for one last night on the town, and the conversations that happen change their lives forever. Before Sunrise vibes. (Trailer)

No Good Nick, Season 1
Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin star in this family comedy about a girl who infiltrates a family with the intention of getting revenge on them for inadvertently breaking up her own family and ruining her life. It's a multi-cam sitcom, just so you know. (Trailer / Monday, Apr. 15)

Super Monsters Furever Friends
I guess there's a whole Super Monsters franchise of which this movie is the latest installment? I watched the trailer and got the sense there was a whole backstory and mythology that the trailer assumed I already knew. Which, maybe you do! It doesn't matter what I write about this. If your kids want to watch this, you're gonna watch it. (Trailer / Thursday, Apr. 16)
