With only two episodes left in Game of Thrones' final season, we're on the lookout for a few twists and turns that fans have been expecting but haven't yet seen come to fruition.
In particular, we're on high alert for any sign that Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) might be pregnant, since that's the one fan theory that seemed unavoidable this season. Season 7 did more than remind us that Daenerys believes she'll never have children; it beat that expository horse to death. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) mentioned it when discussing who would succeed her on the Iron Throne, saying, "You say you can't have children, but there are many ways of choosing a successor." She told Jon (Kit Harington) as much too when she said, "The dragons are my children. They're the only children I'll ever have." There was also that time in the Dragonpit when Daenerys revisited the topic with Jon, explaining that the witch who killed Drogo (Jason Momoa) told her she was barren. He then neatly reminded her that witches aren't always a reliable source of information, reinforcing the suggestion that Dany's infertility was just a bunch of B.S.

Thanks to Dany and Jon's incestuous coupling on their journey back to Winterfell, most fans theorized that they would conceive the next Targaryen heir, and he or she would be the one to sit on the Iron Throne at the end of it all. Now that we're entering the home stretch of Season 8, it's time to either put up or shut up on that particular reveal, and fans think Episode 5 might finally confirm the theory.
The only clear shot of Daenerys in the trailer for Sunday's upcoming episode shows her in Dragonstone, seemingly still in mourning for Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Rhaegal. Her hair is unkempt and loose as she stares out the window, but neither of those facts is as important as the fact that Daenerys is turned away from the viewers at such an angle that it's difficult, but not quite impossible, to see whether she's hiding a baby bump under her crossed arms.Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones" data-image-credit="" data-image-alt-text="‹Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones" data-image-credit-url="" data-image-target-url="" data-image-title="‹Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage, Game of Thrones" data-image-filename="190507-emilia-clarke-peter-dinklage-game-of-thrones.jpg" data-image-date-created="2019/05/07" data-image-crop="" data-image-crop-gravity="" data-image-aspect-ratio="" data-image-height="1380" data-image-width="2070" data-image-do-not-crop="" data-image-do-not-resize="" data-image-watermark="" data-lightbox="">
You can zoom in as much as you want, but from this perspective there's just no telling whether her posture and loose clothing is indicative of the pregnancy we've all been suspecting or just a trick of the eye. It would be hard to imagine that if enough months had passed to show a baby bump where previously there had been none that Dany would still be so deep in her grief that she wouldn't have found someone new to braid her hair -- a job Missandei no doubt performed every day. Plus, if she did spend months staring forlornly out the window, it's hard to imagine Tyrion still standing with her in a bid for the throne.
Why It's a Big Deal Game of Thrones Just Hinted Jon and Daenerys Will Have Children
Sadly, our only other indicator of how much time has passed would be Cersei's pregnancy, and the trailer doesn't give us a great shot of her either. Until we get a better look Dany in this episode, it will be hard to make a definitive ruling. Even so, there's always the possibility that Game of Thrones could be saving this twist for its final episode, airing Sunday, May 19, so we all better be prepared for anything in these next two weeks.
Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
