Star Trek: Discovery's embattled crew isn't just lost in space, they're also lost in time. Stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, and newcomer David Ajala gathered at Madison Square Garden for New York Comic Con on Sunday to unveil the official teaser for Season 3 of the CBS All Access series, which finds the gang propelled 930 years into the future.

The sneak peek teases a sleek but hopeless future where Starfleet is a relic of the past. The preview offered up plenty of treats for fans, including the return of Michelle Yeoh's Captain Georgiou and our first look at Supergirl alum David Ajala as Cleveland Booker, known to his peers as Book. The character is new to the Trek universe and, according to Ajala, is "slightly unorthodox." The show's official description refers to him as a "smart and capable" man with a "natural charisma and devil-may-care attitude that tends to get him into trouble as often as it gets him out."

Discovery's trek into the future will be a game-changer for the show, which might not return to the past. "I don't know if, on Discovery, we have plans to return to the 23rd century," Kurtzman said.

"We left our homes and can't go back" Wiseman added. "Our true home is on Discovery and with the people that we work with on Discovery."

During the panel, Kurtzman also revealed that "Q&A," the first of six new Star Trek: Short Trek episodes, will be available to stream starting Saturday. The episode will see Ethan Peck reprise his role as Spock, along with Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Anson Mount as Captain Pike. Kurtzman said that the beloved trio will appear in additional Short Treks this season.

Another episode will serve as a teaser for Star Trek: Picard and provide essential backstory on what happened to the eponymous character in the 15 years since he left Starfleet. Plus, a different Short Trek promises the long-awaited arrival of the Tribbles, the beloved small but invasive furry creatures first seen in Star Trek: The Original Series. See the full schedule of Short Trek episodes below.

Streaming now: "Q&A"
Thursday, Oct. 10: "The Trouble with Edward"
Thursday, Nov. 14: "Ask Not"
Thursday, Dec. 12: "The Girl Who Made the Stars" and "Ephraim and Dot"
Thursday, Jan. 9: "Children of Mars"

Season 3 will take place thousands of years into the future, coinciding with the end of Season 2 which saw the crew disappear through a wormhole, believed to be lost for good. The change of setting opens the doors for big changes next season, and executive producer Alex Kurtzman previously assured fans that this would still be the same show fans have come to love. "There will be things you recognize, things you don't recognize," Kurtzman said during San Diego Comic-Con. "I just want to assure you, first and foremost, that it's still Star Trek and it will always be Star Trek the way Roddenberry wanted it."

Seasons 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Discovery are currently streaming exclusively on CBS All Access. Season 3 is expected to arrive early next year.
