The chief executive of a charity linked to Jerry Sandusky and the child-abuse allegations at Penn State University resigned Monday. Jack Raykovitz was head of The Second Mile, a charity for underprivileged children with close ties to Penn State that counted university trustees and football stars among its backers.

Things were not going to get better.” -- Billy Hunter, executive director of the now-disbanded National Basketball Players Association, after refusing on Monday the league's most recent collective bargaining deal. Without a union, the players can sue the NBA under antitrust laws and challenge the legality of the lockout; Hunter said Monday a lawsuit would be filed within the next two days.
