The first baby born at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta made her debut on Jan. 2, 2015. Fernanda Yamilex Gutierrez arrived at 8:58 a.m. on Jan. 2, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces. Her parents are Cesar and Jackie Gutierrez of Holly.

Fernanda Yamilex Gutierrez arrived at 8:58 a.m. on Jan. 2, weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces. Her parents are Cesar and Jackie Gutierrez of Holly.

Mother Jackie said she was surprised that little Fernanda was the first baby born in 2015. Her original due date was Jan. 10, but they arrived at the hospital at 5 a.m. on Jan. 2 and the baby was born three hours later. Waiting for her at home are her big brother and two big sisters.

The family is eligible to receive a number of prizes in the La Junta Tribune-Democrat's Baby New Year contest. Some of the prizes include a gift certificate for mom from Shear Perfection; carpet cleaning by Mr. D's Carpet Cleaning; tea and honey tin from The Barista; a mini-facial from Allure Facials; a $50 gift card provided by La Junta Tribune-Democrat; a gift certificate for the baby provided by Take Thyme Away; a free fun key from Racine's Locksmithing; a $25 deposit for a savings account from Arkansas Valley Federal Credit Union; a gift card provided by Opera House Pharmacy, an oil change provided by Tri-County GM and a gift basket from Arkansas Valley Pregnancy Center.
