It was no ordinary melodrama last Friday night, it was defiantly one that will go in the books as memorable. "Pecos Bill and Slue Foot Sue" marked 21 amazing years for director and fourth grade teacher, Star Flanscha.

The night was filled with remarkable moments as this year's fourth grade parents were determined to make Flanscha's last year a remarkable one. Dirty Dan, played by co-director and fourth grade teacher Mark Sharp, had the audience in stitches and on the edge of their seats waiting for his next crazy antic.

The mood changed at intermission to more of a somber tone, instead of the traditional "olio" a tribute video was paid to Flanscha. Clips and pictures from various past melodramas were played, and former melodrama actors talked about the wonderful memories they had from melodramas past as well as the great asset Flanscha has been to the fourth grade Outdoor Education Program. It was a great trip down memory lane and talk among audience members was of the wonderful memories they had as fourth grade parents participating in a tradition that has been in Fowler for several years.

"I am very humbled and honored by the recognition I received during this year's fourth grade parent Melodrama. It was a complete surprise. The reminiscences and kinds words given by both present and former colleagues, parents and my family mean more to me than you will ever know - especially the introduction by my fourth grade teaching partner and son-in-law, Mark Sharp. Thank you to all the fourth grade parents, Fowler School District and the Fowler community for supporting the Melodrama/fourth grade Outdoor Education Program for the past 32 years. Your continued support will sustain the program well into the future," said Flanscha about her evening and special "olio."

After the best "olio" ever, Dirty Dan and his gang were back to their crazy antics. The night ended with, of course, the good prevailing over the bad as Pecos Bill (Chad Bouldin) and Slue Foot Sue (Crystal Autry) saved the day.

All in all, it was a great night with lots of laughs and fantastic memories. Congratulations, Mrs. Flanscha, on an outstanding 21 years!
