Otero County Economic Development Coordinator Danelle Berg announced the receipt of the Community Development Block Grant 15-500 for the Otero County Business Loan Fund in the amount of $250,000. Irv Halper is the new executive director of the Department of Local Affairs. For the first time,


Southern Colorado Economic Development District has hired a loan officer who will handle loan applications much faster than the current method allows. He is Mike Shoaf, a native of Rocky Ford. The cost of the paper work will remain about the same, said Berg, but the time it takes will be about one tenth of the former method with one person carrying the loan through.


Human Services Director Donna Rohde requested renewal of a contract with Signal Behavioral Intervention (Denver) in the amount of $106,548.18. The Commissioners approved the contract. Out-of-home care figures were up a little in June from the previous month.


The Tamarack Grill in Fowler was granted a renewal of its hotel liquor license, there being no complaints against the grill.


The Commissioners plus Public Works Director Lex Nichols, Darren Garcia and Emergency Manager Danny Chavez will attend the North La Junta meeting, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the North La Junta Community Building, to discuss ground water issues.
