Rocky Ford resident, Edward Lawrence Aragon, 33, was arrested in connection with a woman's death and faces charges of first-degree murder. Aragon is being held at the Bent County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.

A Rocky Ford man is being held on $1 million bond after a suspicious death in Rocky Ford Friday.

Rocky Ford resident, Edward Lawrence Aragon, 33, was arrested in connection with a death of a woman and faces charges of first-degree murder. Aragon is being held at the Bent County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Rocky Ford police officers were called to a home in the 600 block of South Eighth Street just after 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 24, where they found Amanda M. Velasquez Ybarra, 23, deceased inside the residence, according to a press release. 

Investigators have determined Aragon and Ybarra were in a relationship, but were not married. Ybarra was staying in the home with Aragon at the time of her death.

The Rocky Ford Police Department is being assisted by Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
