The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its preseason polls for boys' and girls' basketball on Tuesday. The polls were posted on the CHSAANow.com web site on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, no local team are listed in their respective top 10, however, some were listed as "others receiving votes."

Boys' basketball

Two Tri-Peaks League teams are in the Class 3A Top 10 with defending state champion Colorado Springs Christian occupying the top spot. St. Mary's is the ninth-ranked team.

Following CSCS are Colorado Academy, Faith Christian, Sterling, Alamosa, Kent Denver, Jefferson Academy, Lutheran, St. Mary's and Brush.

Buena Vista and Manitou Springs are listed as "others receiving votes," along with Pagosa Springs, Bayfield, The Pinnacle, Bennett, Eaton, Machebeuf, Grand Valley, Manual and Moffat County.

Rye is the only Santa Fe League team in the Class 2A poll and the Thunderbolts are ranked fourth.

Sanford is ranked first, followed by Resurrection Christian, Ignacio, Rye, Holyoke, Burlington, Meeker, Sedgwick County, Simla and Paonia.

Rocky Ford, Crowley County and Swink are mentioned as "others receiving votes," as are Akron, Highland, Merino, Yuma, Center, Ellicott, Mancos and Peyton.

Kit Carson is the only High Plains League team in the Class 1A Top 10 as the Wildcats are ranked fourth. Holly and South Baca represent the Arkansas Valley League as they are second and fifth respectively.

Fleming is first, followed by Holly, Sangre de Cristo, Kit Carson, South Baca, Ouray, Arickaree/Woodlin, Norwood, Heritage Christian and Jim Elliot.

Granada, Wiley and Springfield are in the "others receiving votes" category as are Denver Waldorf, Primero, Shining Mountain, Genoa-Hugo/Karval, Rocky Mountain Lutheran, Sierra Grande and Prairie.

Girls' basketball

Manitou Springs and St. Mary's represent the Tri-Peaks League in the Class 3A poll with the Lady Mustangs at the top of the rankings and the Lady Pirates are ranked sixth.

Following Manitou are Sterling, Pagosa Springs, Eaton, Lutheran, St. Mary's, Centauri, Moffat County, Liberty Common and Faith Christian.

La Junta, Trinidad, Colorado Springs Christian and Lamar are listed as "others receiving votes," along with Kent Denver, Machebeuf, Olathe, Platte Valley, Strasburg and Sky View Academy.

Hoehne is the Santa Fe League's sole representative in the Class 2A rankings as the Lady Farmers are ranked seventh.

Yuma is the top-ranked team, followed by Paonia, Akron, Cedaredge, Del Norte, Peyton, Hoehne, Ignacio, Ellicott and Simla.

Rye, Fowler and Swink are mentioned as "others receiving votes" as are Caliche, Soroco, Wray, Burlington, Calhan, Kiowa, Resurrection Christian, Haxtun, Sanford, Highland, Sargent, Ridgway and Union Colony.

Kit Carson and Eads are High Plains League teams in the Top 10 as they are second and seventh, respectively. South Baca represents the Arkansas Valley League as the Lady Patriots are fourth.

Idalia is at the top of the rankings, followed by Kit Carson, Sangre de Cristo, South Baca, Norwood, Genoa-Hugo/Karval, Eads, Flagler, Briggsdale and Fleming.

Cheraw, McClave, Kim, Springfield, Holly and Walsh are listed as "others receiving votes," along with Prairie, La Veta, Plateau Valley, Heritage Christian, Antonito, Dove Creek, Aguilar, Otis and Hanover.
