Jacee Manchego, a sophomore at Fowler High School, won first place in her Region Stock Market Experience.

The Stock Market Experience is a real life investment simulation that takes place in Mark Lowther's Personal Finance class. Students, or student teams, are given their own virtual $100,000 investment portfolio. They then invest in stocks, mutual funds, bonds and commodities in the U.S. and international exchanges over the course of a semester.

Throughout this process students learn how to conduct research, allocate resources and complete analysis while developing critical academic and 21st Century Readiness skills.

At the end of the semester Jacee ended at almost $150,000 with 50 percent being the return on her investment in her geographic region. Jacee's closest competition in her region only had a 13 percent return on investment.

Jacee won a $50 Stock Market Experience celebration for her class.
