The Annual Chamber of Commerce Wake Up Breakfast occurred on Thursday, June 9, from 6:30 to 8 a.m., and concluded as a great success. The Chamber would like to thank all of the businesses that contributed to this event to make it the success that it was.

During the event, guests were entertained by the hometown comedic trio consisting of Mark Sharp, Kevin Hagerman, and Eric Lundy. As guests laughed, and listened they also enjoyed a mouthwatering breakfast of savory sausage, scrambled eggs, taters, and biscuits and gravy catered by our very own Tamarack Grill, and of course what would breakfast be without old fashioned homemade cinnamon rolls from The Bunkhouse General Store. Among the many generous prizes given away were gift baskets, a toy monster truck, flower arrangements, gift certificates to our local businesses, and the grand prize being an outdoor patio heater, donated by the First National Bank of Fowler.

In addition to the food and fun, the Chamber also announced the recipients of the 2016 Scholarship Awards. The Chamber of Commerce has given out a total of $1000 worth of award money to four outstanding seniors to be invested in the funding of textbooks for the pursuit of education. The award winning students joined us in celebration at the event, and were pleased to be a part of it. The first place recipient was Hayleigh Pate, receiving a scholarship of $500, second place was Amanda Williams, receiving a scholarship of $250, third place was Kristen Solas, receiving a scholarship of $125, and in fourth place (not pictured) was Izzy Castro, receiving a scholarship of $125. These students had to write a short essay about how the community of Fowler has prepared them for their futures. The students that were selected were chosen because of the pride and optimism they displayed within their brief responses.

Overall, the event ended with smiles on faces both young and old, and with great appreciation for the entire community. Once again the Fowler Chamber of Commerce would like to say thank you to everyone who made this event possible. The participation and donations were incredible, and the Chamber is immensely grateful for the generosity of this community.
