Nov. 13, 1929 – Feb. 22, 2017

James Samuel "Sam" Ramsey, 87, of Pueblo and formerly of Fowler, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Feb. 22, 2017, at the Life Care Center in Pueblo. He was born on Nov. 13, 1929, in Sturgeon, Missouri, to Fred and Urilla (Blackwell) Ramsey. He married Joan L. Dilts on June 1, 1948, in Raton, New Mexico. They were high school sweethearts; she preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2014.

Sam and his family moved to the family homestead north of Fowler when he was 3 years old. He graduated from high school in Boone. He worked at the steel mills for 28 years. He was saved at 54 years old, attending Bible school at the Independent Baptist College in Dallas, Texas. He later pastored in Beulah, Colorado, for three and a half years and pastored at the Pitkin Baptist Church for 25 years and four years at the Highland Baptist Church before retiring.

Sam is survived by his son, Samuel Kyle Ramsey of Pueblo; daughter, Debra Ann (Pete) Lindt of Rush, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; by his son Tabert Lee Ramsey on Jan. 16, 2013 and by his grandson Wesley James Ramsey on Aug. 23, 2002.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Heritage Baptist Church, 2122 Overton Road, Pueblo, with Pastor Chuck Bigler officiating.
