Norma Jean Bowie, 81, passed away March 1, 2017, at Arkansas Valley Medical Center in La Junta.
Norma was born in Cripple Creek on Feb. 4, 1936, to Carl and Thelma Fisher. She moved to Canon City, where she met Donald Eugene Bowie. They were married Sept. 21, 1957. While living in Canon City they had two daughters, Patty and Donna.
In 1963 they moved to Fowler. Norma worked in restaurants including Stockman's for many years. She enjoyed meeting numerous customers over the years and made countless friends.
Norma enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a Girl Scout leader while her daughters were in school. Later she was involved in the Red Hat Club.
Norma and Don, along with Bob, Donna and Elaina Mills vacationed in Scotland sightseeing and searching for ancestry history.
Norma is survived by her daughters Patty (Keith) Doak and Donna (Bob) Mills; grandchildren, Mike, Kyle and Brandon Doak, Tiffany (Clayton) Cash and T.J. (Amanda) Gottbehuet all of Fowler and sister Nancy Kemper of Canon City. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, too many to mention.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bowie, parents, Carl and Thelma Fisher, brother, Jim Fisher and sisters, Betty Adams and Evelyn Berardi.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at Eaton Family Funeral Home in Fowler with Stephen Anderson officiating.
