The Fowler baseball team played their final Santa Fe League games against Rocky Ford to end their regular season last week.

The Fowler baseball team played their final Santa Fe League games against Rocky Ford to end their regular season last week. During Game 1, the Grizzlies could not find their groove and fell 10-0. During Game 2, the Grizzlies gained more ground in the later innings, but still fell 9-4. The Grizzlies finished their season 5-11 overall and 4-7 in league play.

The Grizzlies begin postseason this week as they play Crowley County. Results were not available as of press time.

The Fowler girls golf team regular season ended last week at the Rye Tournament at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City. Gabri Leone and Jessica Dawson led the Grizzlies with 98’s, Dacey Corsentino shot a 107, and Jacy Rogers shot a 109. The same four Grizzlies competed in the Regional Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 9, at Hollydot. The State Golf Tournament will be May 22 and 23 at the Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield.

The Fowler Track Team competed in three track meets this week — the Santa Fe League Meet, Cinco de Mayo Invitational, and the Spartan Invitational.


At the Santa Fe League Meet, the boys placed fifth with 68 points and the girls tied for 1st place with Hoehne and Crowley County with 112 points. Top finishers were Brand Sharp third in the 110 meter hurdles and seventh in the 300-meter hurdles, Orin Carnes fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, Mitchell Fosdick third in the 1,600-meter run and fifth in the 800-meter run, Dominic DeVore second in the 200-meter dash and eighth in discus, Ty Hershey third in the 300-meter hurdles, boys 4x100-meter relay fourth, boys 4x200-meter relay fourth, boys 4x800-meter relay third, Garett Gribble second in discus and first in shot put, Thor Schiffer eighth in long jump, Titus Unruh fifth in shot put, Lexi Van Sickle third in the 100-meter dash and second in the 200-meter dash, Emily Aragon second in the 1,600-meter run and eighth in the 800-meter run, Abigail Prieto fourth in the 1,600-meter run, Bella DeVore sixth in the 200-meter dash, Danielle Painter fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, Teyah Schiffer third in the 300-meter hurdles, Kaitlyn Smith sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, third in triple jump, and sixth in long jump, Morgan Samuels fifth in the 400-meter dash, girls 4x100-meter relay third, girls 4x200-meter relay first, girls 4x800-meter relay first, Kassidy Lotrich second in discus and sixth in shot put, Samantha Graham seventh in long jump, Caitlyn Lancaster eighth in long jump, and girls 800 sprint medley relay third.


At the Cinco de Mayo Invitational at John Mall the boys tied for sixth with 54 points and the girls placed first with a total of 111 points. Top finishers were Brand Sharp third in the 110-meter hurdles and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, Orin Carnes fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, Ty Hershey fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, Dominic DeVore eighth in the 400-meter dash, boys 4x100-meter relay fifth, boys 4x200-meter relay sixth, boys 4x800-meter relay second, Garett Gribble second in discus and first in shot put, Thor Schiffer seventh in long jump, Teyah Schiffer third in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles, Kaitlyn Smith fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, eighth in long jump, and first in triple jump, Danielle Painter sixth in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 300-meter hurdles, Emily Aragon second in the 3,200 meter run, Lexi Van Sickle fifth in the 400-meter dash, girls 4x100 relay fourth, girls 4x200 relay second, girls 4x800 relay second, Jacquelin Alvey fourth in the 800-meter run, Abigail Prieto eighth in the 800-meter run, Kassidy Lotrich first in discus and fifth in shot put, girls 800-meter sprint medley relay first.


During the 30-school Doherty Spartan Invitational, the Grizzlies struggled on their third consecutive day of competition. The Grizzlies' only placer was Garett Gribble who placed fifth in discus and second in shot put.

The Grizzlies head to their final regular season meet at Pueblo West on Friday, May 12, beginning at 1 p.m. and on Saturday, May 13, beginning at 9 a.m. After Saturday’s meets, the Top 18 individuals and relay teams will qualify for the State Track Meet to be held at Jefferson County Stadium on May 18, 19 and 20.
