LAFAYETTE — The 2017 high school boys' golf season came to an end on Tuesday as four local golfers participated in the Class 3A State Tournament at Indian Peaks Golf Course.

Two La Junta High School competitors went to state, with Cody Schrock shooting an 86, which was tied for 56th, and Jay Paolucci had an 88, which was tied for 61st.

Also at state were Fowler's Derrick Sharp, who tied for 72nd with a 91, and Rocky Ford's Ethan Jacob, who tied for 81st with a 98.

Peak to Peak and Kent Denver tied for first place after the tournament ended as both had 217 strokes. Peak to Peak won the tiebreaker to earn the state title.

Leading Peak to Peak was Davis Long, who was the medalist with a three-under-par 69. Also shooting under par were Prospect Ridge's Walker Franklin and Kent Denver's Oliver Jack (the defending state champion), both with a two-under-par 70.

Jimmy Clark of Lamar had the best performance from the Tri-Peaks League as he tied for 14th with a 75.

The tournament was reduced to just one round as rain over the weekend made playing conditions on the course unplayable on Monday.
