COLORADO SPRINGS — The Rocky Ford High School boys' cross country team finished in third place in the Class 2A State Meet, which occurred Saturday at the Norris Penrose Event Center.

The Meloneers scored 46 points, which was behind state champion Lyons with 18 and runner-up Heritage Christian with 25.

Leading Rocky Ford was Cody Danley, who finished fourth in 16:43.1. Joaquin Munoz was 28th in 18:00.5, Noel Lopez was 29th in 18:10.9, Gary DeLeon was 53rd in 18:57.1, Jayden DeLeon was 82nd in 19:50.8 and Fred Rikhof was 87th in 20:01.1.

The Lady Meloneers were seventh in the girls' race with 81 points. Ashlyn Alvey led the Rocky girls as she was 23rd in 21:49.9. Jacklynn Snyder was 38th in 22:33.2, Kaysa Kurtz was 44th in 22:50.7, Emily Gauna was 61st in 23:22.6, Abigail Snyder was 62nd in 23:24.0 and Jacquelin Alvey was 64th in 23:28.3.

Nederland was the girls' state champion with 24 points. Paonia was second with 30 and Lyons was third with 33.
