Rocky Ford High School returned to the top of the Class 2A team rankings in Tim Yount’s eighth On the Mat high school wrestling rankings, which were released on Friday.

Fowler is also ranked as it remained in the fifth position, and the County Line Rivals entered at No. 10.

Following the Meloneers are Cedaredge, Paonia, Wray, Fowler, Hotchkiss, John Mall, Soroco, Burlington, and County Line.

Two Tri-Peaks League teams are in the Class 3A rankings as Lamar remained at No. 5, while Buena Vista moved to the No. 7 position.

Alamosa is first, followed by Valley, Eaton, Pagosa Springs, Lamar, Weld Central, Buena Vista, Centauri, Moffat County, Sheridan, and Brush.

A total of 36 local wrestlers are included in the3 individual rankings. They are as follows:

Class 3A

La Junta

La Junta High School has five wrestlers in the Class 3A rankings and the Tigers are led by Isaiah Gamez, who continues to lead the 113-pound rankings.

The remaining ranked Tigers are Wyatt Buhr, who is eighth at 182, Mitchell Peabody, who is eighth at 195, Noah Barrett, who is ninth at 132, and Nick Martinez, who is ninth at 285.

Class 2A

Rocky Ford

Rocky Ford High School has 11 ranked wrestlers with three at the top of their weight divisions. The top-ranked wrestlers are Greg Garcia (285), Diego Reyes (160), and Carlos Romo (145).

The remaining ranked Meloneers include Dillon Jaramillo, who is third at 113, Joziah Maestas, who is fourth at 120, Michael Maldonado, who is fourth at 106, Santino Mendoza, who is sixth at 126, Jesse Tapia, who is sixth at 182, Simon Apodaca, who is ninth at 220, Isiah Garcia, who is 14th at 152, and Dylan Miell, who is 14th at 132.


Swink High School has three individuals in the rankings. The ranked Lions include Justin Tucker, who is fifth at 285, Michael Romero, who is seventh at 106, and Kaleb Fisher, who is 10th at 145.


Eight Fowler High School wrestlers are in the rankings with two at the top of their divisions in Seth McFall (106) and Dahlton McGhee (195).

Also ranked for the Grizzlies are Chantz Lange, who is fourth at 152, Tyson Martinez, who is fifth at 182, Tyler Mullins, who is seventh at 285, Seth Damgaard, who is 10th at 170, Dylan Palomino, who is 11th at 145, and Fernando Salazar, who is 11th at 106.

Crowley County

Crowley County High School has four ranked individuals. The Chargers in the standings include Adam Schultz, who is fifth at 160, Ryan Rivera, who is seventh at 138, Jaden Harris, who is ninth at 145, and Jared Bauer, who is 12th at 152.

County Line

The County Line Rivals have five in the rankings including Ken Cox, who is second at 195, Trevor Randel, who is third at 160, Jayce Bauer, who is seventh at 220, Dawson Roesch, who is seventh at 182, and Jaime Ibarra, who is ninth at 182.

Las Animas

Las Animas currently has no wrestlers in the rankings.
