The three Otero County high school girls' golf teams opened the 2018 season on Thursday, March 29 as all three participated in the La Junta Invitational at the La Junta Municipal Golf Course.
Swink won not only the team championship with 287 strokes, but Lady Lion Jolene Carrica was also the individual medalsit with an 80.
Lexie summers tied for 15th with a 103, Bethany Horiuchi was 17th with a 104, and Baylie Krueger was 23rd with a 107.
La Junta was seventh in the team standings with 324 and it was led by Cassidy Jones, who tied for 13th with a 102. Addison Aragon tied for 24th with a 109, Nevaeah Fisher was 28th with a 113, and Dawn Luttrell tied for 29th with a 114.
Fowler was ninth with 330. It top golfer was Laiken Griffey, who tied for 20th with a 106. Zoey Unrein tied for 26th with a 110, Isabella Proctor tied for 29th with a 114, and Kaley Pieper tied for 34th with a 118.
Swink and Fowler will next play at the Swink Invitational, which will also take place at the La Junta Municipal Golf Course on Monday. All three teams will be at the Fowler Invitational Thursday at the Cottonwood Links.
