It was a game of runs by both teams, but in the long run, the White team had just a little more than the Navy as the White won the 24th Annual Southeast Colorado All-Star boys' basketball game Wednesday at Otero Junior College's McDivitt Center.

Rye's Jensen Brower put the Navy in the lead early with a 3-point basket. But Las Animas' James Gallegos scored seven straight points to give the White a 7-3 lead.

Carnes-Clabey opened the second quarter with a layup and Cheraw's Ryan Nunez tied the score with a another layup. Carnes-Clabey then gave the Navy a 21-19 lead with 5:03 left in the first half.

Kim's Cecil Shannon buried a trey to put the White back into the lead. That sparked an 8-0 run which gave the White a 27-21 advantage.

The Navy closed the deficit to 29-26; however, Rocky Ford's William Valdez scored five points and another Meloneer, Larry Gonzales, knocked down a jumper to give the White a 36-26 lead at the half.

Rocky Ford's Isaiah Hernandez made two free throws and Fowler's Jesse Coffman made a jump shot to reduce the White lead to 36-30. The lead stood at 38-32 before the White got five points from Crowley County's Hayden Carter for a 43-32 advantage.

Carnes-Clabey ended the rally with a dunk, but Espinoza scored in the paint. Suarez made one layup and Carnes-Clabey scored twice to narrow the margin to 45-40.

Crowley County's Chris Meyer scored five consecutive points, but Carnes-Clabey scored three straight baskets and Crowley County's Jacob Pitts scored another as the Navy closed to within 49-48 at the end of the third quarter.

The White scored the first nine points of the fourth to raise the advantage to 58-48. Brower then split at the line before Gallegos drained a three and Espinoza drove for a basket for a 63-49 lead.
