The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its All-State teams for boys' and girls' track and field and three athletes from the area were awarded those honors.

The All-State teams were posted on the web site on Monday.

Two were named to the Class 2A All-State boys' team. Rocky Ford senior Cody Danley was named after winning the 3,200-meter run, and Crowley County junior earned All-State honors for the second straight season after winning the discus.

Only one other athlete from the Santa Fe League earned All-State as Hoehne senior Jacob Yates was named in the 300-meter hurdles.

An athlete from the Tri-Peaks League athlete in Buena Vista senior Michael Morgan won Class 2A All-State in the 100-meter dash.

No Santa Fe League girls were on the Class 2A team.

The remaining local athlete earning All-State honors is Kim/Branson senior Zariah Mason, who won the Class 1A 100-meter dash. Mason earned All-State for a third time in the 100 as she also won in her freshman and sophomore years. She was also All-State in the 200 her first two years, but did not place in the event this year.

Eight girl athletes from Springfield were also named to the Class 1A girls' All-State team. Sophomore Benisa Ellis was the only Lady Longhorn named in an individual event after winning the 400-meter dash. She was also named All-State in the 4x400-meter relay and the 800-meter sprint medley relay.

Also named from Springfield were junior Zoe Alberti in the 4x200 and the 4x400, freshman Payton Arbuthnot in the 4x100 and 4x400, freshman Brinlyn Dukes in the 4x400, sophomore Julia Mondragon in the 4x100 and the 800 sprint medley, sophomore Kylie Parks in the 4x100, 4x200 and 800 sprint medley, junior Audrey Rau in the 4x100, 4x200 and 800 sprint medley, and senior Jayci Westphal in the 4x200.

Only one athlete from southeast Colorado made the Class 1A boys' team in Springfield senior J.T. Borunda, who won the discus.

There were no athletes from the Tri-Peaks League named on either the Class 3A boys' or girls' team.
