Jody Bracy had a great honor bestowed upon her Saturday. Commander Terri L. Clinton presented her with the American Legion Department of Colorado Commander's Achievement Award. The award was presented at the State Convention, held at the Hotel Elegante in Colorado Springs. Bracy said, “I am honored and humbled by this award.”

Jay Scott, Bracy’s former commander, who has worked with her for many years, said, “This award is not given every year, and rarely ever given to a post level person. It usually goes to department level (state) or district officer. She received it because of her outstanding work on the rededication and renaming of Post 168 at Manzanola as the Justin L. Vasquez Post 168. Also, management of the Pony Express Legacy Ride for this whole part of the state was important. If you give Jody a job, you just get out of the way. I am proud of her for receiving this award. She is deserving of it. It is for outstanding community service.”

The award reads:

Presented to
Jody Bracy

"You rock girl! What an incredible job you do in the field of public relations for the Legion. Your management of the Legacy ride, as it wound its way through Southern Colorado, was amazing. Your participation in the events surrounding the re-naming of Manzanola to Justin L. Vasquez Post 168 will forever memorialize his contributions in keeping our country free. Thanks for just being you!
