The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle accident, which resulted in one fatality and one juvenile with serious bodily injury. The crash occurred on Crowley County Road 15, approximately five miles south of the Town of Crowley, in Crowley County.
A 1986 Jeep Cherokee was traveling north on Crowley County Road 15, when it lost control and began rotating clockwise. The vehicle went off the right side of the road and rolled two times, ejecting both the driver and passenger. The vehicle came to rest in a nearby field facing south.
The Jeep's driver, 22-year-old Jacob J. Eshbach Bauer, Jr. of Crowley County, was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene as a result of his injuries.
The Jeep's passenger, a 16-year-old male from Ordway, Co., was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Parkview Medical Center.
At this time, alcohol and drug use are not suspected, but excessive speed is being considered as a contributing factor to the crash.
