BOULDER — The La Junta High School boys’ golf team is tied for eighth place after the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament Monday at the Boulder Country club.

The tigers have a team score of 248.

Leading La Junta is Jay Paolucci, who is tied for 18th with a 76. Cody Schrock is tied for 35th with an 83, Chance Oquist is tied for 66th with an 89 and Nate Paolucci is 84th with a 108.

Fowler’s Andrew Egan is also at state and he is tied for 41st with an 84.

Aspen is the team leader with 214. Kent Denver is a stroke behind at 215. Holy Family is third with 225, Eaton is fourth with 235 and Basalt is fifth with 241.

Three golfers had an under par round on Monday. Eaton’s Peter Grossenbacker is first with a five-under-par 65, Kent Denver’s Jackson Klutznick has a three-under par 67 and Aspen’s Jack Pevny has a two-under-apr 68.

The tournament concludes today.
