The two local high school softball programs found out who they will play in the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament. The brackets were posted on the web site on Monday.

The state tournament will be played this weekend at the Aurora Sports Complex.

La Junta (10-15) enters the tournament as the 16th seed and it will play top-seeded Strasburg (18-5) Friday at 10 a.m. Should the Lady Tigers win, they will play either eighth-seeded Brush (15-10) or ninth-seeded The Academy (19-4) Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Also on La Junta's side of the bracket, St. Mary's (18-7), the 12th seed, will play fifth-seeded Faith Christian (19-5) and fourth-seeded University (19-5) will face 13th-seeded Fort Lupton (15-9).

Rocky Ford (17-7), is the 10th seed and it will play seventh-seeded Limon (16-8) at 12:15 p.m. If the Lady Meloneers win, they will play either second-seeded Eaton (19-5) or 15th-seeded Montezuma-Cortez (13-9) also Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Lamar (17-7) is on Rocky's side of the bracket and it enters as the No. 6 seed and it will play 13th-seeded Meeker (14-10). The other first round game on that side of the bracket has third-seeded Delta (20-2) playing 14th-seeded Sterling (12-12-1).

The tournament continues Saturday with the two semifinal games being played at 10 a.m. The championship will be played at 1:15 p.m.
