MANZANOLA — The Manzanola High School football team will have a daunting task as it opens the six-man playoffs with top-seeded Stratton/Liberty. The game will be played Saturday at Liberty High School in Joes and kickoff is at 1 p.m.

About Manzanola

After not fielding a team in 2017, the Bobcats came back by winning five games and losing three, and they also won the South Central League with a 3-0 record.

Offensively, Manzy averages 259.5 yards on the ground and 53.8 yards via the pass.

Dominic Martinez is the leading rusher with 754 yards on 92 carries and he has 15 touchdowns. Daniel Escareno has 454 yards on 63 carries and three touchdowns, Aaron Sotelo has 446 yards on 61 carries and eight touchdowns, and Axel Escareno has 392 yards on 39 carries and eight

Axel Escareno is the leading passer as he has completed 21 of 63 passes for 341 yards and five touchdowns. Blake Williams is the leading receiver with 11 receptions for six touchdowns, and Martinez has eight catches for 74 yards and one touchdown.

The Knighted Eagles has an overall record of eight wins and one loss. They won the East Central League with a 4-0 record.
