The Fowler High School boys' basketball team won two games over the weekend. The Grizzlies defeated Swallows Charter Academy 60-28 on Friday and Rocky Ford 69-50 on Saturday.
Both games took place at Grizzly Gym.
Fowler 60, Swallows Charter Academy 28
The Grizzlies had a slim 5-3 lead after the first quarter, but they outscored the Spartans 13-3 in the second quarter to take an 18-6 advantage at halftime. Fowler's lead stood at 36-18 after the third quarter and it outscored Swallows 24-10 in the final period.
Johnathan Mobbley led Fowler in scoring with 19 points. Val Leone and Drew Egan both scored nine.
Fowler 69, Rocky Ford 50
Fowler led 15-10 after one period of play and it outscored the Meloneers 20-7 in the second quarter to lead 35-17 at halftime. The Grizzlies then scored 17 points in the third quarter and limited Rocky to just nine and Fowler had a 52-26 at the end of the period.
Rocky Ford made a comeback effort in the fourth quarter as it outscored Fowler 24-17.
Fowler had three players score in double figures. Leone led the way with 15 points, followed by Zane Denton with 12 and Quinton Flanscha with 11.
Fowler (7-3, 4-1 Santa Fe League) will paly two riad games this week. On Friday, it will travel to Walsenburg to take on John Mall. The first game begins at 4 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Grizzlies will play a nonleague game at Calhan. Basketball begins at 1 p.m.
