The Fowler High School wrestling team competed at the Class 2A Region 3 Tournament, which took place over the weekend at Akron High School.

The Grizzlies finished seventh in the team standings with 106 points and they qualified six of its wrestlers for this week's state tournament.

Leading the Grizzlies was Seth McFall, who won the 106-pound individual championship. He defeated Wray's Cole Rockwell by an 11-2 major decision in the final.

Also qualifying for Fowler were Fernando Salzar, who was third at 113, Orin Carnes, who was third at 170, J.J. Horn, who was third at 220, David Salazar, who was fourth at 138, and Dylan Palomino, who was fourth at 152.

Evan Bottini (160) and Jasper Smith (285) both finished sixth in their weight divisions, while Cutler Hampton (120), Ashton Cash (132), and Robert Roe (145) did not place.

The Class 2A State Tournament will take place at the Pepsi Center and it will begin on Thursday. The championship matches are on Saturday evening.
