The Fowler High School girls' basketball team ended its regular season on Feb. 12 as it defeated Swallows Charter Academy 48-20 in Pueblo.

The Lady Grizzlies then opened Class 2A District 6 Tournament play by hosting Holly on Monday. They defeated Holly 42-38 in overtime.

Fowler 48, Swallows 20

Fowler roared to a 12-3 lead after the first quarter. It increased the lead to 28-7 at halftime and to 38-9 after the third quarter.

Bella DeVore led the Lady Grizzlies in scoring with 10 points, followed by Jacquelin Alvey with seven.

Swallows' Jessie Vallejos led all scorers with 11 points.

Alvey also led Fowler in rebounding with nine and in assists with five.

Fowler 42, Holly 38, OT

Fowler took a 14-8 lead after the first quarter, but the Lady Wildcats came back to close the deficit to 25-22 at halftime. The Lady Grizzlies increased the lead to 33-27 after three quarters of play, however, Holly outscored Fowler 9-3 in the fourth to tie the score at 36-36.

Fowler scored six points in the overtime period and it held Holly to just two.

Two Lady Grizzlies scored in double figures. DeVore led Fowler with 17 points and Isabella Proctor scored 10.

Jacquelin Alvey was again the rebounding leader with five. Proctor, Tressa Reed and Ciara Huckaby all had two assists to lead in that category.

Rest of district tournament

Fowler (10-10, 8-5 Santa Fe League) advances to the District 6 semifinals where it will face fourth-ranked Swink at 3 p.m. Thursday at La Junta High School's Tiger Gym.

The Lady Lions advanced by bombing John Mall 72-10 also on Monday in Swink.

The rest of the District 6 scores included Rocky Ford  defeating Hoehne 43-20 in Rocky Ford, and Rye over Crowley County 42-27 in Rye.

Rocky and Rye will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, also at Tiger Gym.

Should the Lady Grizzlies win their semifinal game, they will paly in the championship Friday at 6 p.m. A loss will put Fowler in the third place game, which will be Friday at 3 p.m.

Both games will be at Tiger Gym.
