The Fowler High School boys' and girls' track and field teams competed at the 10th Annual La Junta Open, which took place last Friday at Tiger Stadium.

The Lady Grizzlies were 10th in the girls’ meet with 31 points. Leading Fowler was Emily Flanscha, who won the 1,600-meter run in 6:03.98 and was fifth in the triple jump at 29-11.

Other Lady Grizzlies included Jayden Osborne, who was fifth in the 100-meter high hurdles in 18.83 seconds and sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 56.39, and Ashlyn Alvey, who was seventh in the 1,600 meters in 6:43.25.

The Fowler girls placed in two relays. They were third in the 4x800 in 11:42.51 and seventh in the 800 sprint medley in 2:08.80.

The Fowler boys were 17th with 11 points. Placing for the Grizzlies were Orin Carnes, who was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.93 and seventh in the 300 hurdles in 49.76, and Thor Schiffer, who was sixth in the long jump at 18-6 1/2.

Eads won the girls' meet and Hoehne was the boys' team champions.

Pueblo County meet canceled

The Grizzlies and Lady Grizzlies were also scheduled to participate in the Pueblo County Hornet Invitational on Saturday. However, the meet was canceled because of the weather.
