The Fowler High School girls' golf team began the 2019 season by participating in a pair of tournaments.

Last Thursday, the Lady Grizzlies were at the La Junta Invitational at the La Junta Municipal Golf Course. Fowler finished in fifth place with a team score of 337.

Isabella proctor led Fowler as she tied for 11th place with a 103. Also competing for the Lady Grizzlies were Shayna Ede, who tied for 18th with a 116, Mary Tate, who tied for 22nd with a 118, and Zoey Jackson, who tied for 26th with a 121.

Rye won the tournament with 277, followed by Pueblo County with 292, Monte Vista with 321, and host La Junta with 333. Swink finished sixth with 343.

Rye's Rachel Shaffer was the medalist with an 84.

On Monday, the Lady Grizzlies returned to the La Junta Municipal Golf Course for the Swink Invitational. Fowler placed fourth with a team score of 321.

Laiken Griffy led the Lady Grizzlies as she placed 10th with a 97. Kailee Mobbley was 20th with a 107, Jackson was 24th with a 117, and Chloe Briggs tied for 27th with a 121.

Pueblo West was the team champion with 268, followed by Rye with 283 and Alamosa with 285.

Pueblo West's Paige Boltz was the individual champion with an 84.

La Junta placed eighth with 340 and Swink was seventh with 342.

Fowler will host its home tournament on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Cottonwood Links.
