Jackson Joe Woods was born on May 18, 1946, to Jack and Catherine Woods in Rocky Ford. He was soon joined by four sisters: Pat, Connie, Cathy, and Paula. He graduated from Fowler High School and continued his education at Colorado State University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in business and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force upon graduation.
