It was a Bobcat brawl this past Friday under the lights on the Manzanola home field. The Manzanola Bobcats and the Bobcats from Granada each scored in the opening quarter to make it 6-6. Manzanola doubled the Granada effort in the second quarter to lead at the break 18-12.

Granada’s defense took it from there and in the second half shut down the Manzy offense in the final 16 minutes of play. With an additional offensive explosion of 12 third quarter points, it was a walk to the final winning score for the visiting Cats in the non-conference game, 24-18.

Axel Escareno threw for 7-18 in the passing department and went for 24 yards rushing on six carries; Daniel Escareno led the Manzanola offense in rushing with 41 yards on 10 carries; Blake Williams had two catches for 40 yards receiving.

On defense Williams led with 13 solo tackles and one assisted tackle.

Manzanola scoring: JJ Horn, one rushing TD; Blake Williams, two TDs — one receiving and one kickoff return of 55 yards.

Next game will find the Manzanola team traveling to Eads for kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday.
