Bobcat football was on the road this past Friday with their bus headed to Mountain Valley football stadium in Saguache.

The first 16 minutes of scoring found the purple, black and silver clad Indians in front 12-0. The Bobcats did rally in the next eight minutes however, to pull themselves back into contention at 19-13. A scoreless fourth quarter that ensued was due mainly to turnovers by the two teams. Up until the last plays of the game the Bobcats still had a chance but it was not to be with the final a disappointing non-conference loss at 19-13.

“We had six fumbles and three interceptions and failed to score five times from inside the five-yard line,” commented Manzanola coach Scott Egan. “We still had a chance to win it at the end. Penalties and lack of discipline hurt us this week.”

Individual stats for the Bobcats were: Passing - Axel Escareno 4-16 for 54-yards, Daniel Escareno 4-7 for 54-yards; Rushing - A. Escareno 16 csarries for 99 yards, Carroll Dalton 12-57-yards; Receiving - Blake Williams 3-54; Tackles - Williams 12 solo 2 assists, A. Escareno 9 solo 4 assists, JJ Horn 5 solo 7 assists.

With three weeks remaining on their schedule the Manzanola team will host La Veta this Friday under the lights of their home field.
