The Fowler girls have come into their own of late winning two of the last three games. The last game of the regular season against Swallow Hill Academy from the Pueblo West area turned out to be the Grizzlies highest scoring affair with the largest margin of victory for the entire year.
Jumping to a large lead in the first quarter at 12-3 it was obvious the host Fowler five were going to roll on the rest of the way. Along with the Fowler offense the defense was on its game as well.
Swallow Hill never got above single digits in any quarter. With both ends of the court working well the Fowler team controlled each of the following quarters. The final, a big win in conference play at 60-15.
Fowler girls are fifth in the nine team Santa Fe League at 6-7 with the victory over Swallow Hill.
They now head into the playoffs with a winning frame of mind and a positive attitude.
“We executed well against Swallow Hill and it was a great team win. Everyone contributed even though we have had some sickness and injuries, so it feels like we are finally full force again. Our team is looking forward to the opportunity to compete next week. We control our own destiny. Swink is a well-coached team and has had success in the past years so we will have to be ready to go. This is a great group of girls and they are working hard. We just need to clean some things up."
Fowler individual and team stats: The Piepers - Ryanna and Kaley topped the list with 14 points and 12 points respectively; Taylor Osborne 8 points; Emerson Mason 7 points; Team shooting 27 for 66 for 41%, 37 total rebounds from 10 Players, 26 team steals.
Fowler played Swink on Tuesday (no score as of press time) and with a win will move on in the 2/A Distict-6 Tournament today and Friday.
